Chapter 12: Huntington Steam Celebration
August 6, 1991, Huntington, West Virginia
It was the day before the convention as Peter and Nicholas simmered next to Huntington depot on display for the public. The crowds were able to get good looks of the two engines up close, as well as tours of the cabs. Nicholas was used to this sort thing as he had been doing so since his restoration, but he enjoyed it nonetheless. For Peter, this was his first time at such an event.
Clint was there as well. The importance of him being the last Western Maryland painted diesel was significant enough for him to participate in the convention. The three engines chatted about as the day went on, but their conversations would often be interrupted by curious folks asking them questions, of which they were glad to answer.

Chapter 11: Lima Reunions
August 2, 1991, Owosso, MI
The cloudy, overcast skies couldn't damper Peter's excitement as this was a day he thought would never happen. Later in the day he would depart Owosso for Huntington, West Virginia to attend the 1991 National Railway Historical Society convention.
MSTRP members were busy finishing last minute preparations for his first big outing away from Michigan rails, including a fresh coat of black paint to many of the fittings inside the cab. The group accepted the invitation from the NRHS after a year of successful break-in runs on Peter's old stomping ground between Plymouth and Grand Rapids, now under control of the new CSX Corporation.
While this made Peter excited, the main reason his excitement was so high was that for the first time in 40 years, he would be reunited with his best friends Nicholas, and what a better place to do it than in their birthplace of Lima, Ohio.
